I have just joined a great website called red bubble. I upload my pictures/paintings and they sell them as wall art or greeting cards or T-shirts! they do the printing and the shipping and I get the commission what whatever I sell. They also make sure that everything is of the highest quality possible so now I can stop my seemingly fruitless search for a giclee printer and leave it all up to them!
I found out about it from Christina, a fellow Irish Arts Blogger and this is her page on Red Bubble. Thanks christina!
I just need a higher resolution camera. The photos I took with my mums camera in Ireland are large enough for small/medium prints but the one here I am using in mexico just isn’t big enough. Soon! This is the one I think I want!
Tomorrow is final day for the one world one heart giveaway and then its draw the name time! I am actually quite excited to see if I win anything.
Ok, have a great wednesday ya’ll! hope all your dreams come true!

so valentines is in less than a month and from a business point of view I made some embroidery cards and put them for sale on etsy and a shop or two here in guanajuato. These were my biggest seller at the craft fair. Customers were buying three and four of them to frame for themselves! Its hard though selling textile stuff online. Good photographs are so important when someone can’t pick the object up and feel it. I am getting there slowly. Still looking at cameras.
From a personal point of view I asked Paul “so what have you got planned for valentines day? huh? huh?” see what happens!

brings to mind cattle round ups and sizzling iron brands but that just shows me how not in touch I am.
I am getting better at the whole business side of things. How to sell to people, or rather how to get people to buy stuff has always puzzled me. My motto has always been if they really like it they will buy it and I do intend to stick to that motto, and of course make what I myself like, or do what I love doing best and it will all fall together in the end.
Absolutely, 100% correct…. but…. there is also a side that I have ignored in the past in my idealistic pursuance of a living from my art and that is various business practices that denote professionalism and the difference between a sale and someone saying they really love it but.. there is an art to this side of things also and I have met people whose art is to sell things. They are really good at it, they inspire the person somehow to want this product in their lives. I, on the other hand, because I hate to feel I am being ’sold’ something can’t pressure in the slightest and I go with the motto above.
Anyway, there is an endless blogworth in this topic so on to the subject matter. Branding….
I currently have a website ‘cliodhnaquinlan’, a blog ‘cliodhna’s wave’ and a name ‘glorious designs’ which is the name I use on my bags. I am feeling a little spread out, a bit diffused, how can people find me? there is no one phrase or word or concept to bring it all together. I have always been a bit of a jack of all trades, a possible hindrance in that I never fully explore one avenue but a possible strength if I approach it right. I just need to find a brand or a name or a description under which all the parts of me that are currently running around unconnected have a home.
I started wondering about this because of my etsy shop (check it out! etsy is a whole world of marvelous handmade things to buy. follow the pictures to the right to my shop and then on from there) I am selling bags, and cards and I want to offer prints of my work in large format or card format and later original embroideries and I realised its just too bitty and untogether. Would I want to buy from this shop if I stumbled across it? (aside from that, I reaaaallllly miss the mexican sun which made taking pictures of product so easy, and they look great with no fancy equipment). Its early days yet, I know. I have things to change in the shop and add to it before I want to advertise it but I do need to seriously ponder this issue. What do I want to sell in this shop? do I want to offer crafts only? or my pictures also? and how do I want to sell it? what name do I want to use, how do I want to portray my work, fun/serious/frivolous… lots of food for thought
right, better go pack, I am meeting a friend in a few hours and I am heading north to sligo for a few days. Girly night tomorrow night with the gang. I am going back to mexico next sunday! can’t believe it’s so soon. Back with Paul, (the boyfriend and at the moment my only other suscriber to this blog! hi! x) and Art (his son) and the dog (big baby rotweiller) who follows me everywhere I go like a shadow.
